Tom was born and raised in the Grand Rapids area.  He grew up in a quiet country setting on a lake surrounded by acres of nature.  For nearly thirty years, he and his wife Terri have lived in the country just a couple miles from his childhood home.  They both enjoy the outdoors in many activities from fishing to snowmobiling to spending time at their cabin near the Canadian border.  With a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tom spent twenty-eight years working for an area manufacturing firm with a global presence.  He worked as a Applications Engineer which involved international travel as well as Information Systems Manager responsible for large software systems.  In both positions, effective communication played a key role.
